School Roof Refurbishment – Learn More
Back in June we reported on the launch of a new website for schools, fixmyschoolroof.com, which provides advice and information about school roofs, and explains how schools can obtain grant funding for repairs and replacement.
We’re here to report that over the summer months we’ve populated the website with several new resources including:
- A guide to raising funds for reroofing from the Condition Improvement Fund
- A guide to the hazards of leaking roofs, and
- A glossary of flat roofing terms.
Live Blogging a School Roof Refurbishment Project
We’ve also been blogging about a live school roof refurbishment project to reroof an Academy School in Yorkshire, one of many CIF funded projects the team from SIG Design & Technology has been working on this year. So far these include:
- An introduction to the school and what its survey revealed,
- How the site was set up with information on Health and Safety, and
- What we discovered when we stripped the Boiler Room Roof!
We’ll be posting about the installation of new roofs next, and then writing about roof maintenance.
If you’re interested in school projects please click the links to read these posts and share them with colleagues and school business managers and head teachers who may find them useful. You can also subscribe to the blog here.
The fixmyschoolroof.com website is such a fab idea. Making this information more easily accessible to schools will help so many schools, particularly the ones with less funding or who may not be aware of how to apply for grants etc. Let’s hope this new resource is spread far and wide to schools across the country.
Fix My School Roof is a great idea. The amount of local schools we have spoken to who have said they were overpriced for work, or quality was substandard is very saddening. Hopefully this resource will help educate the educators!
Thank you both. We’re very proud of our team of specialist roofing contractors and roofing experts, and it is good to be involved with projects which provide so much community benefit as schools. Don’t forget to check out our blog over on the FixMySchoolRoof.com website – and sign up for updates!
