Green Roof Systems and Renewables from AccuRoof

With the emergence of statutory requirements for local sustainable energy generation and Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG), green roofs and renewable energy generation are entering the mainstream for architects and developers. Whether you are simply looking to tick a box on an Urban Greening Factor calculator or have wider aspirations to improve the environment, we can help navigate a changing market.

AccuRoof, (previously as SIG Design and Technology), has been involved in this part of roofing design and supply for many years. As part of SIG Roofing, we are a major supplier of these technologies and can offer a range of services and systems to the specifier wishing to meet these challenges with confidence. Explore the technologies in the links below or contact us about your project.

Green and Biodiverse Roofs

A green roof is a living system that cannot be treated as a typical building or roofing product; getting it right is a science. Green and biodiverse (formerly known as brown) roofs should be designed in accordance with the GRO Green Roof Code, a code of best practice developed by the roofing sector.

AccuRoof has partnered with Eco Green Roofs (EGR) to provide reliable and sustainable green and biodiverse roof system solutions that can transform both new and refurbishment projects. Between us, we have decades of experience in green roof supply and maintenance.

Blue Roofs

A blue roof is designed to attenuate water, typically rainfall, and release this water over a longer period. This eases the pressure on drainage systems particularly in times of severe rainfall. Today they form part of SuDs best practice.

AccuRoof, in partnership with EGR, offers an experienced technical team who understand that each project has its own unique requirements. Providing a comprehensive design and delivery service, including post-installation integrity tests for both the waterproofing and blue roof. After installation we deliver and EGR provides a complete maintenance service.

Solar PV

Solar Photovoltaics (PV) is becoming an essential element of clients’ decarbonisation and energy efficiency strategies, but in an evolving market with pressures on delivery and emerging technologies, getting accurate advice is difficult.

AccuRoof’s experience across a wide range of roofing types means we can take an integrated approach to incorporating solar pv systems into your project and provide you with system agnostic advice. Part of SIG Roofing, a leading provider of roofing and construction materials across the UK, AccuRoof offers a full service, including drawing on a UK network of established, MCS (Microgeneration Certification Scheme) registered installers working to British Standards, BRE and IEE codes.

BioSolar: Combining Green Roofs with Solar PV

A biosolar system combines the best elements of solar PV and green roofing and is increasingly popular with clients who need to comply with the Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) mandate, as evidenced by its inclusion in the GRO Green Roof Code. Not all biosolar systems are the same, however, and they must be properly designed, constructed and maintained.

AccuRoof, working in partnership with Eco Green Roofs, designs, supplies, installs, and maintains the SolarNature biosolar system. Early involvement and scoping enables shade analysis and a bespoke system design, in order to support reliable yield forecasts.
